Here's a super cute crafty idea for Mother's Day, imagine your mom waking up to this pair of slippers!!!

They're super simple to make, and they will make you look great...what a fancy treat!!

Ingredients
  • 2 halves of an oval sandwich cookie
  • 1 doughnut hole
  • frosting
  • shredded coconut tinted with red food coloring
  • pink decorators' gel

Instructions
  1. To make a pair, first separate the 2 halves of an oval sandwich cookie (we used a Cameo) and remove the filling with a butter knife.
  2. Next, slice a doughnut hole into thirds. Coat the rounded sides of the 2 end pieces with frosting (you can eat the middle piece), then roll them in shredded coconut tinted with red food coloring to create a pair of fuzzy slipper tops.

My Favorite Etsy Shop

Hi there!! Get to know one of my favorite clothing shops on Etsy, comgy yet fabulous:)
Meet Samya and her cool shop!

*Why did you opened your Etsy shop?
I opened my Etsy shop because my girlfriend had a shop on Etsy, and she raved about it- at the time I had my own website and so I was resistant at first...I didn't know much about Etsy and just kind of brushed her off. I did get on and set up an account but then I just forgot about it and never bothered to find out what Etsy was all about. About a year later I was complaining about how slow my business was and how hard it was to promote without paying tons of money for advertising. My girlfriend reminded me about Etsy, and for some reason this time I was able to get over myself and realize that I really did need Etsy...I knew I had an amazing product, and I finally admitted to myself that I NEEDED Etsy. So she gave me several pointers and walked me through opening up my shop at the end of October '08. I will tell you, people ask me all the time what the turning point in my business was...when I went from surviving to beyond thriving, and I tell everyone- it was when I started selling on Etsy. My business literally *exploded*, every aspect of it, when I opened my Etsy shop. I am so extremely thankful and loyal to Etsy...the administration has taken a liking to my shop too and has really promoted my clothing, and that blessing is invaluable!

*What's your best seller?
My best selling item changes with the seasons...first it was my MOMMY burnouts, then my TEAM EDWARD and TEAM JACOB baseball burnouts, then my RUN BABY RUN shirts, and right now it's my HEY BATTER BATTER burnouts!

*What makes it a great buy?
All of my products are a great buy because they're made one at a time, by hand, when you order them. So say you want a cool shirt that says MOMMY on it, if you come to my shop you get to pick the style of burnout you want, the color of burnout you want, and the color of ink you want! So essentially each t-shirt is one of a kind. Not to mention the quality and the way you feel when you wear my tees...I always say that my tshirts are for women who are way too delicious for tshirts!

*My Pick*
I love this one...one word says it all :)

*Treat*

Guess what!!, you will get FREE shipping on any purchase you make when you mention this post to Samya!!

Enjoy!!

My Favorite Etsy Shop

featuring Poes Prose

Hello! I invite you to visit this shop dedicated to the witty words of Edgar Allan Poe :) run by sisters Lisa and Anna. They create these beautiful and fun mugs, so if you don't have a favorite mug yet, you could find yours here!!

*Why did you open your Etsy shop?
Poe's Prose was opened because two sisters (myself, and my sister Anna) share a passion for the literary greats, and Poe was an author that we fell in love with as children. I can remember reciting "Annabele Lee" to my high school English class and Anna memorized the story of the Tell-Tale Heart (word for word) in the seventh grade. Also, it's a great excuse for us to spend time together :)

*What's your best seller?
Our shop opened a few months ago, and our "best seller" has been a mug with the quote, "All that we see or seem is but a dream..."

*What makes it a great buy?
Each mug has one of our favorite quotes hand-written (with love) on a porcelain mug that is then heat-cured, creating a lasting treasure for any literature lover (we also take custom orders and will hand-write quotes from other great authors, as well!)

*My Pick*
Love this stackble set!! what a great idea...you can actually have them out in the open as decor :)

*Treat*

Lisa and Anna are just great, they're giving a 10% discount to all of  you readers!!! Just mention that you found them here :)

Enjoy!!

Crafty Tuesday: Beauty Mask

Create this Beauty Mask!! It will be great for your Bridal Shower or Mother's Day

Materials: Flannel-backed satin fabric *Glue *16-inch length elastic *Funnel *5 tablespoons flax seed*3 tablespoons dried lavender
What to do:
  1. Cut two pillow pieces from flannel-backed satin (download our template here). On the satin side of one piece, use tacky glue to attach rickrack edging and two 2-inch lengths of black fringe fabric trim eyelashes. Trim the fringe if necessary.
  2. Everyday Fun Homemade Beauty Mask: Step 2 Run a line of glue around the flannel-side edge of the other fabric piece, leaving an inch-wide gap (shown in photo A, marked by waxed paper). Glue the ends of a 16-inch length of elastic to the flannel (A). Lay the other fabric piece on top, satin side up, and gently press the pieces together. After the glue dries, use a funnel to pour 5 tablespoons of flaxseed and 3 tablespoons of dried lavender into the opening (B) and glue it closed.
  3. Beauty Mask - Step 3 Before using the pillow, heat it in a microwave for about 20 seconds to warm the flax seed and release the lavender scent.

My Favorite Etsy Shop

featuring The Clack House

Meet Chasity a very talented gal with a really cute shop!! She has an awesome variety of scents all year round, it's just like a bakery shop...check her eye candy products and learn a little bit about her :)

*Why did you open your Etsy shop?
Actually Ebay was where I got my start in online sales. I was lurking in their forums one day and came across a post that mentioned Etsy. I figured I would give it shot considering the old saying "Don't keep your eggs in one basket". And I am soooo glad I did! After about 6 months on Etsy I completely ditched Ebay and moved my entire inventory here. I love it!! It is such a unique venue to be apart of. Everyone here is so helpful and the items you find here are so much more meaningful and creative!

*What's your best seller?
I would say my best seller is Our "Yummy PINK SUGAR CUPCAKES Wax Tart Melts". They were created during February for Valentine's Day, but they keep flying off the shelves! I decided to keep them as a permanent item.

*What makes it a great buy?
They smell divine! And most of my buyers say they are def eye candy..sweet, frosted and pink! What more could you ask for?! Each order is complete with 6 cakes and are almost as big as votive candles! A real treat sure to satisfy your sweet tooth..I mean nose!=)

*My Pick*
This set of yummy coconut cupcakes!!! Love everything coconut :)

Chasity is so sweet she's giving a 10% discount to all of you readers!! All you have to do is to enter "FunFavors" in the discount code box at checkout :)

Crafty Tuesday: How to Make Garden Markers Using Wooden Spoons

Decor your garden with this DYI garden markers!!

  • Materials: *wooden spoons * paint * seed packets//catalog magazines * white glue or decoupage medium * permanent marker *clear acrylic spray * paint brush or foam brush *scissors
    What to do:
Paint the entire wooden spoon whatever color or colors you desire. Let the paint dry.
Cut out pictures of the produce or flowers that you will plant or have already planted in your garden. The packets from the seeds you planted are perfect for this project or you can use catalogs from nurseries. Trim these pictures so they fit in the 'bowl' of the spoon.
Glue the pictures onto the 'bowl' part of the wooden spoons. Glue them so that when the handle of the spoon is poked into the ground the picture is not upside down. Let the glue dry and then coat the 'bowl' area with a few more thin layers of glue or decoupage medium, letting each layer dry.
Use the permanent marker and write the name of the plant running down the handle, starting near the edge of the spoon's bowl. Seal with several light coats of the clear acrylic spray.
Once the spray is dry, take your new garden markers outside and poke the handle of the spoon into the ground.

I hope you try this, they will dress up your garden even more !!

What's on your plate? ... Chilaquiles

If you haven't try this delicious Mexican dish, Spring is the perfect season to have this, you can enjoy this for breakfast, lunch or dinner!

Ingredients:
  • 1 dozen corn tortillas, preferably stale, or left out overnight to dry out a bit, quartered or cut into 6 wedges
  • Corn oil
  • Salt
  • 1 1/2 to 2 cups red chile sauce or salsa verde
What to do:
In a large sauté pan, coat pan generously with corn oil, (1/8 inch), heat on medium high to high. When the oil is quite hot, add the tortillas, fry until golden brown. Remove tortillas to a paper towel lined plate to soak up excess oil. Sprinkle a little salt on the tortillas. Wipe pan clean of any browned bits of tortillas.

Add 2 Tbsp oil to pan, bring to high heat again. Add the salsa and let salsa cook for several minutes.  Then add the fried tortilla quarters to the salsa. Gently turn over the pieces of tortilla until they are all well coated with salsa. Let cook for a few minutes more.

Add cheese and chicken if you like. Removed from heat. Add garnishes like cilantro, chopped onion, lime. Enjoy!!
